    The new IPL season just about to begin with fixtures released recently.

    There is always a sense of excitement as usually building up towards the first game of 11th edition.

    It started 10 years ago, in 2008, when the first match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore & Kolkata Knight Bangalore.

    From that moment of IPL T20, Cricket extravaganza became an instant hit with the cricket fans. Since then every season has been exciting and offers great entertainment to the viewers.

    T20 is all about close encounters between the teams and hence, we bring you the top 5 encounters in the history of IPL.

    Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians- 2008

    Mumbai Indian played smartly and made a decent total of 145/7 in their 20 overs.

    Royals could have thought to finish it early but they had a tough time playing against mighty Mumbai Indians. In the final over, they needed 15 runs to beat MI and Fernando was given the responsibility to defend the score.

    But Niraj Patel and Ravindra Jadeja kept their nerves and brought RR through. Royals won that match by 5 wickets.

    Mumbai Indians v CSK- 2012

    MI and CSK are two of the strongest teams in IPL and when they clash, fans always look forward to exciting finishes.

    It happened in the year 2012 when Sachin was leading the team. CSK, batting first, piled up 173 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Mumbai Indians’ Sachin and Rohit made a brilliant start and scored 74 and 60 respectively. But middle order collapse saw them struggling at the end.

    But Dwayne Smith clobbered a maximum and couple of fours in the final over to win it for MI by 2 wickets.

    Deccan Chargers v Kings XI Punjab- 2012

    This was another close match in IPL 2012 that was held between DC and KXIP. The DC team made a good start with Dhawan scoring a strong 71 and White unbeaten 67.

    This helped them make a huge score of 190/4 in 20 overs. It was looking difficult to beat them but David Hussey made 65 off 35 balls and gave the team a much-needed base.

    They needed 16 runs in the final over that was bowled by Manpreet Gony. It was a slow start but Gurkeerat, with a maximum and couple of fours, made sure that they won the match in the final over.

     Mumbai Indians v Rising Pune Super Giants- 2017

    The last year’s IPL final was extraordinary that was played between MI and RPS. Mumbai made a below-par score- 129 in 20 overs.

    It was looking like an easy win for RPS but Jadeja, Dhoni and Tiwary got out in quick succession.

    With the team needing 3 runs in the final delivery, Dan Christian could make only 2 runs as MI won by one run and became IPL champions.

    Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore- 2012

    This match in 2012 between CSK and RCB was a batsmen’s game.

    RCB made a huge score of 205 in 20 overs with most of them contributing. Chennai’s start was commendable with Faf du Plessis scoring a 46-ball 71. They needed 43 runs in the last two overs with Virat Kohli bowling to Albie Morkel. He smashed 28 runs off Virat’s over, easing some pressure.

    In the last over, Jadeja smashed 15 runs with a boundary in the last ball and won it for CSK.
